Rationing

Rationing is a system used to appropriate resources to guarantee both adequate supply and fair distribution. During World War II, a variety of items were rationed in the United States and other countries. Some of these items included

tires
gasoline
rubber
shoes
canned goods
cheese
meat
coffee
tobacco
sugar

There were several types of ration books and stamps provided to designate the quantity allotted to each individual or family.
