Title

Virginia Syndor on Race Horse

Subject

Women of Louisa county

Description

Virginia (Taylor) Syndor, a niece of Lucy Taylor's, is shown here racing horses in her late 20s or early 30s. She writes of spending her childhood days at Westend Farm with her Aunt Lucy, who was like a "second mother" to her. She also remembers learning to ride at Westend, and the first time she rode alone she fell and broke her collar bone. She was not scared of riding after such an early accident, and she was soon up riding again. Evidently, she went on to compete in shows and won several prizes around Virginia.
