Title

Westend Post Civil War Letters #199

Description

Westend 8th June 1868

My Dear Julia,

I drop you a line this morning to tell you that we have another boy added to our household who made his appearance at 3 o’clock yesterday.
Mary Minor had an elegant time & both she and the boy promise to do well – They call him James Watson – The rest of us are all well but oh we do miss you so much. Not long ago, Mary told Nanny that you were in the parlor & she came running in looked all around & when she did not see you burst out crying. Your brother Henry had intended to write to make this announcement but Mary Minor told him she had heard me say I intended to do it so you see I have cut you out of what might have might perhaps have been a most interesting document which is certainly more than this can be for I have no time to write a letter having others to write this morning.
Susan will write to you in a day or two. Cousin Mal is coming on the 16th or 17th. Mat Davis comes with her on a visit to Patty Gordon. Give much love from me to Belle & John. I should like so much to see little Edmund. I am glad John thinks so much of him. Mary Minor don’t know I am writing or could send me papers I reckon.
Truly Yrs S. D. Watson
Mary Minor complains that you have not given us a hint as to whether or not you are going to Philadelphia or when you are coming home. You must write all about your movements,
