In Louisa County Court Clerks Office June the 8.th 1832
James Redcross son of Sally Redcross who was born free, this day made application in the said office to be registered according to the act of the General Assembly of Virginia in such cases made and provided.
It is certified therefore to all whom it may concern, that the said James Redcross is of light black complexion, five feet eight and an half inches high, in the twenty second year of his age, spare made, his right jaw more prominent than the left, has a small scar on the right jaw and a considerable scar on the left side of the chin, extending a little under the chin, no other apparent mark or scar, deemed worthy of notice.
In Louisa County Court June the 1832. The foregoing Register was this day compared by the Court with the said James Redcross and certified to be correctly taken. In testimony whereof I John Hunter Clerk of s.d Court have hereto put my hand & caused the Public seal of s.d court to be hereto affixed this day of June 1832. (Sig.) John Hunter
