Josephine Fleming discusses her employment

Dublin Core

Title

Josephine Fleming discusses her employment

Description

Josephine Fleming talks about being employed as domestic help in Richmond. She remarks on one of the most visible signs of the racial boundaries as she describes how she wasn't allowed to enter or leave through her employers front door, only the back. She was, however, allowed to go out the front door to clean. She also remarks that she didn't understand why white women were referred to by their last names, but she was always introduced by her first name only just because she was black.
