Southern Cross from the United Daughters of the Confederacy
Description
The Louisa Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy was chartered in 1919 but its members had been at work for years to help honor those, living and dead, who served the Confederacy during the Civil War.
The UDC was instrumental in having the Confederate Memorial placed in front of the new courthouse built in 1904 and their charter still hangs in the Circuit Court directly under the large full portrait of Robert E. Lee on the back court room wall.
