Title

The Boxley Place Inn - 1860

Description

Built in 1860 by Edwin Lee Smith, a local dentist. The house was sold in 1913 to the Boxley family.
In 1918 architect D. Wiley Anderson remodeled the home for the Boxley family. The renovations included: the addition of a dining room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The slate roof was also replaced with terra cotta tiles. A Greek revival two-story dwelling, it has stretcher brick with a low basement, and three symmetrical bays. The primary porch has two stories, bays and levels. The double iconic columns support thick entablature, and a railed roof.
The home was meticulously restored in 2008 and furnished with antiques and historic photographs of Louisa. It is now a bed and breakfast.
