Modes of Transportation

With poor roads, many vehicles were unable to travel any distance until early summer. Existing dirt roads were not ready for the horseless carriage. The advent of the automobile began at about the same time as the mines in the Mineral area closed and the population of the county decreased. Without growth, the road system in the county fell behind surrounding areas in terms of upgrades and paved roads. This caused modes of transportation, too, to fall behind.
