Providence Presbyterian Church Session Book 1822-1893
Records, births, deaths, etc.
The first existing Session records of Providence Presbyterian Church in Gum Spring begin in 1822. The church, established in 1747, is the oldest Presbyterian building still in use in the Commonwealth of Virginia. These records contain the birth and death dates of a number of people in lower Louisa County and Goochland before the counties began keeping vital records in 1853.
